Treading water waiting for the start of my first Ironman, I heard a familiar sound come from the loudspeakers. It was “Clocks” by Coldplay.
I had heard this song so many times on long-runs, and had done a lot of visualization exercises while it played, focusing on how I saw my initial race unfolding on race day.
To this day, whenever I hear that song, I get goosebumps. It takes me right back to the start of that race, and it makes me smile with confidence.
